Box spring or slatted base: what's the difference?

A box spring gives your bed extra height and shock absorption and extends your mattress's lifespan thanks to its built-in springs, ideal in combination with a pocket spring mattress. A slatted base is lighter, has a lower profile, and allows more air to circulate, which memory foam and latex mattresses need. If you want a classic, higher bed with extra give, a box spring is the logical choice.
