Customized Revor mattresses for the Alpecin-Deceuninck cycling team
Revor, the West Flemish manufacturer of mattresses and beds from Kuurne, becomes the official 'sleep supplier' of the cycling team Alpecin-Deceuninck. After two years of collaboration with the riders of Lotto Soudal, Revor Bedding is switching to the team of riders like Mathieu van der Poel, Jasper Philipsen, and Dries De Bondt.
The Alpecin-Deceuninck riders were provided with their own personalized mattress and pillow during the last Tour de France to enhance their night's rest and recovery. "The custom mattresses and pillows are meant to provide that one extra percent leading to the best performances and thus also two impressive stage victories," laughs Jan Maes from Revor.
The mattresses and pillows were developed in collaboration with a team of physiotherapists and occupational therapists from Leuven and Antwerp. Each cyclist receives a mattress and pillow customized to their weight, body structure, and specific needs. These are transported by the Revor mattress carriers from hotel to hotel during major tours so that the cyclists can sleep on the same mattress every night. The collaboration has since been initiated, with the Tour de France as the first and also successful trial.
The Alpecin-Deceuninck team has been actively engaged in measuring and improving the rest and sleep of their riders for some time now and is convinced that these details also make a difference. "Sleep is the most important form of recovery, and therefore crucial for future performance," says Alpecin-Deceuninck. "With Revor bedding, we find a partner with expertise in the field of sleep and recovery."
The company has been making high-quality mattresses and beds for over 45 years, produces more than 200,000 mattresses a year, and knows better than anyone how to provide people, including top athletes, with a more qualitative night's sleep and promote recovery.
